Private Health Insurance
Many private health insurance companies, such as Bupa and Medibank Private, offer rebates for psychology sessions as part of their "extras" coverage. Claiming psychology rebates from your private health insurance is straightforward. Here's what you need to know:
1. Check Your Coverage:
Contact your provider or review your policy details to confirm if you're covered for mental health services.
2. Booking and Claiming:
Once you've confirmed your coverage, book your first session. Claims are typically submitted through your insurance provider's online portal or app. You will need the paid session invoice from Present Tense Psychology, which is emailed to you after each session.
Rebates and Medicare:

You can only claim rebates once per session, either through private insurance or Medicare. If you have already claimed through Medicare, your private insurer won't offer additional rebates.
No Private Insurance?

You may still be eligible for reduced-cost therapy with Medicare. To do so, you'll need a Medicare card, a Mental Health Plan, and a GP referral letter. Find out more about claiming Medicare rebates for psychology.
Why Choose Private Insurance over Medicare:

If you are ineligible for Medicare rebates, private insurance can provide reduced-cost sessions. Additionally, if you have used up your 10 Medicare-rebated sessions, private insurance can still cover you. Learn more about Medicare rebates here.
Booking and Payment:

You will need to pay the full fee upfront when booking your session. The amount will be charged to your account after the session, and an invoice will be emailed to you. You can claim your rebate directly through your private health insurance provider. The rebate amount depends on the level of coverage provided by your insurance plan.
Is Present Tense Psychology Approved for Your Insurance?

Most insurers require psychologists to be registered with Medicare Australia and the AHPRA. Mark Rose is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and listed with AHPRA. Before booking, check your insurance policy to ensure that psychology is included within your policy criteria.
